This Red, White, and Blue Dessert Board is a festive mix of sweet treats like wafers, candies and pretzels. It’s a simple, colorful way to serve up patriotic fun for 4th of July celebrations or summer parties.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 12-16

Ingredients

Scale

Red, white and blue Gummy Bears

Red, white and blue Sour Patch Kids

Red, white and blue Swedish Fish

Red, white and blue Airheads

Red, white and blue M&M candies

Vanilla wafers

White chocolate covered pretzels

Yogurt covered raisins

Strawberry thumbprints

Powdered sugar donut holes

Twizzlers, cut into pieces

Hostess 4th of July cupcakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare your serving platter. Cover with a sheet of parchment if desired.
  2. To assemble – have all the individual items prepared.
  3. On your serving platter, begin with the larger, more statement-piece items first (cupcakes, donut holes, pretzels, etc). Small loose items are also good in bowls to add dimension, keep them contained and are aesthetically pleasing.
  4. Then place the smaller, secondary items around the larger items (Twizzlers, cookies, etc).
  5. Finally, use the smaller items to fill in the remaining areas (M&M’s, Sour Patch Kids, etc.)
  6. If needed, continue to add and/or remove items to fill in voids and adjust the board to your liking.
  7. Keep in mind to alter the colors so that not all one color dominates one area of the board. The red, white and blues should be consistent across the board.

Notes

  • Ingredients can be any variety or combination of items.  Substitute accordingly to achieve the red, white and blue theme.  The quantity of items will depend on the size of your serving platter.
  • Storage:  Charcuterie board items are best stored separately in air tight containers.
