Based on a traditional Bloody Mary recipe, these test tube shots bring a spooky twist to the classic cocktail, served in eerie test tube shot glasses. Perfect for Halloween parties, they’re bold, savory, and easy to dress up with ghoulish garnishes with a wicked little kick!

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 shots

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup tomato juice

1 lemon (juice + wedges for garnish)

1 lime (juice + wedges for garnish)

1/4 cup tequila (or vodka, to taste)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 jalapeño

1 stalk celery

1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon ground paprika

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

1/4 teaspoon ground garlic

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Ice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cut the celery and peeled jalapeño into small pieces. Place them in a pitcher for preparing the drink.
  2. Place the sliced lemon wedges and pour in 2 tablespoons lime juice. Add a pinch of pepper.
  3. Add tomato juice and Worcestershire sauce. Pour in tequila (or vodka, if you want a more classic Bloody Mary). Stir well with a spoon or shake in a shaker until smooth. Taste and add more lime juice, salt, or spice if needed.
  4. Garnish the shot glasses. Wet the rims of the test tubes or shot glasses with lime juice, dip them in the salt and spice mixture to create a “vampire” red rim.
  5. Place ice in a bowl or plate, insert the test tubes with the cocktail. Add lime and lemon wedges for atmosphere.
