Ingredients
Red pepper, sliced
Cherry tomatoes
Raspberries
Strawberries
Pepperoni
Chorizo
Pearl mozzarella
Yogurt-covered raisins
White chocolate dipped pretzels
Variety of crackers (different flavors, shapes, and sizes is best)
Pepperjack cheese, sliced
White cheddar cheese, sliced
Brie
Provolone cheese, sliced
Blackberries
Blueberries
Fruit jam of choice
Instructions
- Prepare your serving platter. Cover with a sheet of parchment if needed, set aside.
- Slice the red pepper.
- Slice the strawberries, if desired.
- Using serving skewers, place one cherry tomato, one mozzarella pearl and one black berry on the skewer.
- Using a star cookie cutter, cut out stars from the sliced provolone.
- Also using the star cookie cutter, remove just the star shape from the center of the brie casing. Fill with the fruit jam, if desired.
- Optional – to make a pepperoni flower – using a shot glass, fold over a pepperoni around the top rim of the shot glass. Add another pepperoni to overlap about ⅓ of the first pepperoni. Continue all the way around the rim of the shot glass several times. Carefully invert the shot glass to reveal the flower.
- To assemble – have all the individual items prepared.
- On your serving platter, begin with the larger, more statement-piece items first (brie, skewers, crackers, etc). Small loose items are also good in bowls to add dimension, keep them contained and are aesthetically pleasing.
- Then place the smaller, secondary items around the larger items (peppers, strawberries, meats, etc).
- Finally, use the smaller items to fill in the remaining areas (blueberries, raspberries, etc.)
- If needed, continue to add and/or remove items to fill in voids and adjust the board to your liking.
- Keep in mind to alter the colors so that not all one color dominates one area of the board. The red, white and blues should be consistent across the board.
- Finally, top the board with the star shaped cheeses – place on top of the blueberries or raspberries for a striking contrast.
Notes
- Ingredients can be any variety or combination of items. Substitute accordingly to achieve the red, white and blue theme. The quantity of items will depend on the size of your serving platter.
- Storage: Charcuterie board items are best stored separately. At minimum, cover with plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
