How to Play

Print out the scavenger hunt list (we’ve made it simple with two different free printables below!), grab a pencil or crayon, and let the kids start hunting! You can make it competitive by seeing who finishes the list first—or play at a relaxed pace throughout the day.

  • Scavenger hunt sheet
  • Pencil or marker
  • Clipboard
  • Optional: small prizes or treats for everyone who completes it!

Adapting for Different Age Groups

• For Toddlers & Preschoolers:
  Stick to visuals. Use a picture-based version of the list. Let them spot items with an adult helping check them off.
• For School-Aged Kids:
  Use the full list with simple reading prompts. Add a few slightly challenging items like spotting a specific color combo or finding a neighbor with a flag pin.
• For Tweens & Teens:
  Add photo tasks! Ask them to snap a picture of a patriotic pet, a red drink, or a backyard game in action. You can also turn it into a team relay.

Ingredients

24 marshmallows

10 oz white melting chocolates

3 oz red melting chocolates

3 oz blue melting chocolates

Red, white and blue sprinkles

1 pack of Pop Rocks

Red/blue sanding sugar

Edible glitter

Cook Mode Prevent your screen from going dark

Instructions

1. Start by laying out a sheet of parchment paper.
2. Put the red or blue melting chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate in 15-30 second increments until the chocolate is completely liquid.
3. Put the chocolate in a piping bag. Cut a small hole in the piping bag and pipe 2 inch  triangles on the sheet of parchment paper. Place some sprinkles on some of the chocolate triangles for extra decoration.
4. Melt the next color of chocolate and repeat the steps above. Lastly do the same with 1 ounce of the white chocolate.  
5. Let the chocolate pieces sit out to dry.
6. Put 3 marshmallows on each lollipop stick.
7. Use a small knife to cut a small hole in at the top of the marshmallows.
8. Melt the rest of the white chocolate melts in 15-30 second increments until its liquid.
9. Pour the melted chocolate in a tall cup.
10. Dip the marshmallows into the cup. Wipe of the excess chocolate on the cup and place it on a new sheet of parchment.
11. Next get 3 Chocolate pieces, one in each color and stick it in the top of the marshmallow. You can add more if you like.
12. Place the marshmallow sticks on a sheet of parchment to dry.
13. Repeat this for each marshmallow stick and then put them in the freezer for 10 minutes to dry.
14. Next remelt the red and blue chocolate in the piping bags.
15. Use the chocolates to pipe zigzags on the marshmallow sticks.
16. While the chocolate zigzags are still wet, sprinkle the sprinkles and pop rocks (or sanding sugar) randomly on them.
17. When the chocolate is dry, brush the marshmallow fire works with edible glitter.
18. Serve and Enjoy!

Notes

• These Fire work Marshmallows are best eaten fresh, but they can be stored in airtight container in a cool dry place for 2-3 days. 
• Make extra chocolate triangles in each color, to have back up in case any of them break.

Wherever you are around the world, St Paddy’s Day is one of those events where you can’t help but gather your mates – Irish or not!- to join in the festivities.

I love a good Guinness as much as the next person, but there’s one thing more certain than spotting a leprechaun: I’ll be seeking out novel ways of celebrating St Patrick’s Day this March 17th at home!

If you’ll be hosting your own St Patrick’s Day Party or an intimate mini-celebration at home while you watch the parade, we’ve curated this list of St Patrick’s drink recipes you can try at home.

As you can imagine, Shamrock Green features heavily, as does Jameson and Irish creams, although we also have a blue drink (little-known fun fact about Ireland: blue was the color associated with Saint Patrick before green took over, and it is still the national color of Ireland!)
