  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale

16 ounces ground beef

374 grams puff pastry pre-rolled dough

3 tablespoons olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 white onion, diced

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Sauce Ingredients:

1 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon pickle relish

1 teaspoon granulated sugar

1 tablespoon mustard

1 teaspoon white vinegar

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, about 7 to 10 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together all sauce ingredients until well combined. Set aside.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a clean surface or cutting board. Evenly spread the cooked beef mixture over the pastry. Drizzle about 3/4 of the sauce over the beef and sprinkle with cheese.
  5. Carefully roll the puff pastry into a log. Place in the freezer for about 10 to 15 minutes to firm up for easier slicing.
  6. Preheat the oven to 204°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Slice the chilled roll into pinwheels, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the sides with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven. Drizzle with the remaining sauce, top with shredded lettuce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed but still cold when working with it. If it gets too warm, pop it back in the fridge for a few minutes to firm up.
