- Total Time: 90 minutes
- Yield: 11–12 1x
Ingredients
2 cups funfetti cake mix
6 tablespoons room temperature butter
2–3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
11–12 pretzel bows
8 ounce yellow melting chocolate
2 ounces orange melting chocolate
Optional rainbow sprinkles
Instructions
- Start by heat treating the cake mix. Spread the cake mix evenly on the parchment paper and place it in the oven on 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Then set it aside to cool.
- Place the heat treated funfetti cake mix, butter, vanilla extract, and milk in a mixing bowl then mix it until combined and forms a ball.
- Use a spoon or ice cream scoop to scoop out about 1 1/2 -2 tablespoons of the funfetti mixture at a time.
- Roll the funfetti scoops in your clean or gloved hands to make a ball shape, then continue to roll the ball into an oval. This will be the baby chicks body.
- Place the oval on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until you have used all of the funfetti mixture.
- Put the ovals in the freezer for 10-12 minutes. So they keep their shape.
- Next place the yellow melting chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, heat them in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until they are liquid and smooth.
- Dip each oval in the yellow chocolate, scrape the excess and place it back on the parchment paper to harden.
- Dip the black round sprinkles in the remaining yellow chocolate and put two sprinkles in the area you want the baby chicks eyes to be.
- Warm the orange chocolate melts following the same directions as above.
- Dip the pretzel bows in the chocolate scrape off the excess and place them on the parchment paper.
- While the chocolate pretzels are still wet place the yellow ovals on top them.
- Put the remaining orange chocolate in a piping bag.(you may have to warm the chocolate again before bagging)
- Cut a tiny hole in the bag and pipe a small orange triangle under the eyes to create the chick’s beak.
- Once the beaks are dry, Serve and Enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure your chocolate is warm but not too hot because this will cause the baby chicks will crack when solidifying.
- A fun way to make these truffles extra special is to add more sprinkles to the mix, so its more colorful and has a crunch.
- These truffles can be stored in a air tight container in a cool dry place for 2 days and in the fridge for 4 days.
- Feel free to add sprinkles to the outside of the truffles as well.
